You want a heart, carved out in snow with someone's finger?

Well, I suppose aiming low avoids disappointment, but it seems rather temporary, for a pretty girl.

OOC: Forgive Cal. He's, well, rude.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well you are a rather literal fellow, aren't you?

Besides, almost everything in temporary. It's just the nature of things.

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I investigate liars. Literal comes with the territory, don't you think?

Lie...there. You said that almost everything is temporary, but you pulled your mouth down, as if you don't really believe that. The nature of most things is that the tighter we try to keep hold, the faster they slip away.

So, what is a rather pretty girl being so broody about? Boyfriend problems? Oh, wait, that was very non-PC of me. Boyfriend or girlfriend problems?

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds rather boring, actually. To each their own, I suppose.

I think lies are rather like beauty, they tend to be in the eye of the beholder. Just because someone lies, doesn't mean they don't believe what they're saying after all. Or maybe that they just want to believe it. Either way.

Things have just been too quiet lately and love, even the temporary kind, tends to make things more interesting.

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's not. I get to sort the truth from fiction. Emotional recycling, as it were.

Ah, but see, that's the problem. People who really believe their own lies are generally sociopaths. Want is not the same as really believing it.

That's not love, love. That's hormones. I've got an ex-wife, I know the difference.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know what's true and what's not? Are you psychic?

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* No. There is really no such thing. I read people, by their voice, body, movements and, mostly, their facial microexpressions. It's a science, and I have a firm where we do that for law enforcement and private clients.

I'm Doctor Lightman, by the way.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. You're one of those science guys that are firmly rooted in 'reality', and a doctor to boot.

So, Doctor Lightman, what do you do when you're confronted with the unexplained or fantastic?

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing is without explanation, of some kind or another. However, if you are asking me if I believe in tooth fairies and Santa, then I would probably say that is explained by parents who have too much time on their hands and not a very good grasp of concrete child raising.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
*snorts softly* Well, yeah! Everyone knows St. Nick bit the big one years ago.

I still can't believe they made the guy a saint though. He was such a perv!

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*eyebrows lift, slightly* Right, well, what can one say about a fat guy in a red suit, who hangs out with little kids on his lap, elves and shiny nose reindeer.

*tilts his head* Low on medications, darling?

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, right. My daughter, Em, found a photo of me baked in the jungle with a tribe, purely research, mind you. Unfortunately, it was while I was punishing her for having a wild, drunken party with a hundred of her dear friends, in my ex's house, while she was away. So, who am I to condemn anyone for indulging?

However, I hear it causes wrinkles. Might want to be careful, there, darling.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, you're all concerned. That's sweet, but it's totally not necessary. I have really, really good genes.

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect you do, luv. You're a beautiful woman.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you really are the sweetest thing. *air kiss*

[identity profile] lie-detector-dr.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Funny...I've never had anyone say that to me before.

[identity profile] idealized-sue.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's because most people are silly, obviously.
