K’tanya moved slowly towards the bar, knowing that every eye in the room was on her and letting that knowledge show in the way that she walked in the slinky black and white cocktail dress that she was wearing. When she arrived, she didn’t actually sit, but instead turned and leaned up against the bar just so. This allowed her to be able to watch the room without seeming to watch the room.
The bartender made his way over to her, wiping down the bar before setting a coaster next to her. "What can I get you?"
"A dry martini please, in a deep champagne goblet."
"Shaken?"
She scoffed, shaking her head just a bit. "Of course not. What idiot would want a watered down drink with ice floating around in it. Only snotty people order it that way so that they can seem more important than they really are. I’ll take it stirred, thank you very much."
"Of course."
As the man went about making her drink, she scanned the room, searching it for the two people that she knew had to be in the crowd somewhere. On would be devastatingly handsome, with that edge to him that told her he was a bad boy trying to break into the world of high society. He would also possess some kind of an accent that would make him that much sexier, and he would use that weapon to his best advantage. The other would be just as good looking, but in a much more modest way. He would also be younger, and be smarter than his age would imply, leaving it hard to believe that he was actually a molecular geneticist with a secondary degree in biochemistry.
Then, she saw him. As their eyes met across the room she could feel his smoldering gaze as it raked up and down her body. She smiled slightly, a silent invitation, and waited as the man worked his way towards her. The bartender delivered her drink, and she took a small sip before setting it aside as the first of her intended targets walked up to her.
"Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Richard Normous."
As he lifted her hand to kiss the back of it, she smiled at his manners as well as his upper crust English accent. "Demonstar. K’tanya Demonstar."
"Enchanting. Would you care to dance?"
"I would be delighted," K’tanya said as she slipped her fingers into his hand and allowed him to lead her away. She knew that her liaison with him would lead her to the other man, thus allowing her to complete her mission of scoring with both the hot bad boy and the smart, environmentally friendly, but just as attractive good guy.
