It was raining when she got home. A soft summer rain that cleansed the air of dust and left a scent that had always been her favorite. Now she barely noticed as she pulled her phone out and dialed his number.
It went straight to his voice mail.
"I’ll be ready to leave first thing in the morning. I’m packing light, just my passport and a few things to tide me over. I’ll get everything else I need later. I’ll see you then."
Then she hung up, walked out to the balcony, and let the rain wash the night away.
