RP - Visiting A Friend
May. 31st, 2008 03:07 pmK'tanya walked slowly through the small graveyard, a small brown bag clutched in her hand. She didn't like coming here and being reminded of her loss, but today was special and she couldn't let it go by without some kind of an acknowledgment After everything that they had been through together, it just wouldn't be right not to remember.
With a heavy heart, she paused in front of the headstone, then knelt down and lightly traced the letters of his name with her fingertips. Then with a soft sigh she removed a single long stem strawberry from the bag and placed it gently over the grave.. Stuffing the bag into her pocket, she then leaned over a bit and patted the grass beside the berry gently. "Happy Birthday, Aidan. I wish you were here to celebrate it, but I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you today."
She stayed for just a moment more, a single tear slipping down her cheek and falling to the ground. Then she got to her feet and with one last pat to the headstone, she turned and walked away.
Not long after she left, the strawberry moved. Slowly it lifted into the air, then flew across the graveyard and into the bushes that lined the side of the cemetery that was facing the street. Then all was quiet once again.
