"Tawny, I’m afraid that Tom is on the phone again and he simply insists on speaking with you."
K’tanya looked up from the Vogue that she was flipping through, sighed, and then set the magazine down on the table as she got to her feet. "I thought we’d gotten rid of that guy."
"Apparently not." Hayley said in her soft accent as she handed K’tanya the phone.
Rolling her eyes, K’tanya put on her best ‘of course I’m listening to you’ voice and spoke into the phone. "Tom! It’s so good to hear from you again."
Leaning against the wall, she started to twist the phone cord around her finger as she listened to the man on the other end. "Of course it’s not an inconvenience. You know that I love talking to you."
Hayley lifted an eyebrow and nodded at the other room, silently asking if she needed to leave. K’tanya shook her head slightly as she spoke. "I know, and it’s a real honor that you would even think of me. However it’s like I’ve already told you, I just can’t do it right now. I’ve got too much going on. You know that fashion week is coming up in London soon."
Lifting her hand, she frowned slightly at the slightly ragged nail on her thumb and made a mental note to find a file when she was finished. "No, it’s not the nudity. You already told me that it was optional. And it’s not the whole controversial thing either. I simply don’t have the time for a long engagement if it gets popular."
She gave Hayley a thumbs up as the man on the other end finally seemed to get the hint. "Of course we’re cool! I really do appreciate the offer and everything, and if something changes then I promise that you’ll be the first person to know. It was really nice to talk to you, Tom. Later."
K’tanya sighed as she reached around the corner and hung the phone back up. "I swear, I thought that guy would never get lost. I’ve already told him three times that I’m not interested in his Broadway thing. I mean I know mine is the best, but even so I just don’t see how someone can do an entire play about hair."
