"I’m terribly sorry, miss, but the rules are very specific on this point." The homely young lady sitting at the sign up table turned the laptop she is working on around so that K’tanya could see the words on the screen for herself. "As you can see, the word event/sport is singular. Therefore, you may only choose one."
K’tanya pouted slightly, although it was mostly to cover up her irritation. After all, pouting was ever so much prettier than brow furrowing. "Well that’s just stupid. I mean, if I excel at all of them, and I can win medals in all of them, then I should totally get to represent my chosen country in all of them."
"Yes well, I really don’t think that would be possible even if it wasn’t against the rules, miss. You simply wouldn’t be able to compete in every event because many of them do go on simultaneously."
Sniffing slightly, an indication of how put upon she was by the fact that so many people weren’t aware of her ability to be in multiple places at one time, K’tanya just crossed her arms in front of her. "If you say so."
The woman at the table turned the laptop back around and then lifted an eyebrow slightly. "Is there any specific sport you would like to look into?"
"I suppose I’ll just have to go with one that the United States hasn’t ever won a medal in. Something graceful, mind you. Since I only get one then I want to at least look good while I’m doing it."
"Well, in that case I’d say gymnastics, although you may be a bit…top heavy for that sport. Still, there are a few that make the team on occasion."
"Ummm, hello? We’ve won a ton of medals in that sport."
Looking up from her laptop, the woman nodded slightly, looking somewhat bored now. "Yes, but not in the rhythmic or trampoline events."
"They have trampoline events? I didn’t even know it was a sport!"
"It is now."
K’tanya thought about the possibilities for a moment. There were cute little form fitting outfits and it required a whole lot of bouncing around. It was a win-win really. "Sign me up."
