Okay, so say that you are an exceptional person. I mean, you're smart, strong, talented, beautiful, have a lot of connections, and are just an all around awesome individual. You bring sunshine and rainbows with you wherever you go, and the world would be a much darker place if you were not there to light the way for all the ordinary people.
However, it's not all just about how wonderful and gifted you are, despite all the wonders that you possess. There's pain in your life too! Horrible, awful pain that just threatens to crush all that you are beneath its terrible weight! Things you simply cannot control that threaten to rip the very foundation of your life to pieces and leave you adrift in a world that is dark and cold and without even a glimmer of hope!
You can't help the fact that you were created with all these wonderful traits and gifts, or that your life has been full of so much anguish and pain. However, people seem to look down on you because of them. They sneer at you and say mean, horrible things about you behind your back when they think you can't hear them. Sometimes, when they are exceptionally cruel, they even say them to your face!
Well I for one think those most horrible of words, Mary Sue, should be thrown out and forgotten for all time. After all, who really has the right to pin that kind of a label on someone anyway?
