RP - Wedding Dress Shopping - Part 2

Despite Archimedes less than pleased attitude at being asked to carry Adam across the ocean, and Adam's less than pleased attitude with being coerced into riding on the back of the ill-tempered griffin, they manage to make it to Paris with only a few minor problems. Minor of course meaning that nobody ended up dead or seriously injured on the ride over. At least, not for very long.

The landing on the rooftop of K'tanya's Paris residence is a bit bumpy of course, but she blames it on the length of the journey and doesn't even consider the possibility that the griffin is doing it on purpose just to piss off his unwanted passenger. Besides, she's so excited about the prospect of shopping for her wedding dress materials on Adam's credit cards, that the shopping is all that she can think about anyways.

"Well, here we are, safe and sound just like I promised." Mostly.

"There are some things that I'm good at and there are other things that I'm not. Talking about my feelings towards Quinn is one of those things that I'm not good at." He says with a shrug.

She went back to her croissant and picked up a piece of cheese from the tray. "Yeah well, talking about any of your feelings was never a strong suit as I recall."

Suddenly she pulls out her cell phone and glances at the time on it. "Where is that boy."

Right about then, as if on que, a voice comes from behind Adam. "Sorry, I'm late. I got held up in traffic."

He was going to say something to her about that, but that was when the visitor arrived.

Adam turned around and thought that he might be able to breathe again. He cleared his throat, though, before he stood up to shake hands with the boy.

K'tanya sat back in her chair with that cat that ate the canary kind of smile as the two men met.

Kismet smiled a bit and shook the other man's hand. "Hi. I'm afraid Tawny didn't mention we were having company. I'm Kismet, but most of my friends call me Kit."

Yeah, I know. Deal with it.

He looks over at her and whispers, "He calls you Tawny too? I thought that I was the only one?"

Adam looks back at him, "It's nice meet you, finally. I'm Adam...er...unless she's told you more about me. For the moment, it's Adam."

She just shrugs. "He started when he was a toddler cause he couldn't pronounce the hard K."

Kismet glances at K'tanya, then looks back at him with a slightly furrowed brow. "Actually, I don't think she's ever mentioned you. At least, not that I remember."

He adds that last bit quickly just in case it's something that might get him in trouble. Tawny had a rather wicked temper at times.

He sits down again, "Well, then. Just Adam."

Adam looks over at Tawny and wonders what else she kept from the boy. Like, does he even know that she's getting married AGAIN?

K'tanya of course is looking totally innocent and eating her lunch as though this were a perfectly normal gathering.

Kismet pulls am empty chair over from one of the neighboring tables and sits down between K'tanya and Adam. He's rather curious as to who this guy is, given the fact that there had been talk of her being together with some guy named Edward, whom he had yet to meet. "So, how do you two know each other?"

"Oh, I think it's best to let Tawny explain this one."

He's easily amused by all this.

K'tanya swallows what's in her mouth, takes a sip of her sparkling water, and looks at Kismet. "I'm getting married and we're here to get what I need for my dress."

She then grabs the basket of croissants and offers him one. "Hungry?"

Kismet just looks at her for a moment, obviously speechless, although he really shouldn't be all things considered. It's not like it would be the first time she'd pulled something like this, or worse.

After a moment, he turns to look at Adam. "So, you met because you're a designer or something?"

"No." He says with a shake of his head. "I was once married to her, if you can believe it. This is, more or less, alimony for the botched married."

Volcano burning...wedding dress materials. Yes, that makes up for it.

Kismet takes a croissant and lifts an eyebrow at Adam as he rips it into pieces and picks up a bottle of honey. "Who did the botching?"

K'tanya instantly points at Adam. "He did."

Adam looks at Kismet as if he really has to ask that. Did you see how quick on the draw she was to point fingers towards him?

Shaking his head, and knowing his 'mother' quite well, he knew the answer but had wanted to see her reaction.

"So, wedding shopping huh? Sounds...fascinating."

K'tanya snorts delicately and goes back to her lunch. "You should try it sometime Kismet."

"Are you trying to get him married off already?"

"Why not? I mean, he's old enough now. He just needs to find the right girl, that's all."

"I don't really like girls, Tawny."

Except then he realizes that doesn't sound quite right.

"I mean, I'm not really interested in anyone that way."

Better.

He grins at the boy, already liking him.

"Unfortunately, he will never find a girl good enough for you."
