She had decided that she didn’t need anything from anyone. Not anymore. Not companionship. Not friendship. Not love. Especially not love. All love did was rip out your heart and stomp it into the dirt before chopping it up and eating it with some fava beans and a nice chianti.
Okay maybe that was liver, but the point remained.
It hurt, and she didn’t want to hurt anymore.
So she didn’t ask for his help, and yet for some reason he decided to rub lotion onto her back anyway.
She wondered what he wanted.
