Her life as she knew it, was over.
Everything that she had yet to accomplish, all the good that she could have still done in the world, all the people that she could have saved not only from others but also from themselves, were now completely lost. They might as well just keel over and die, because there was no way that she could go out and better their lives now as she had in the past. Everything was now so completely and utterly meaningless that she just didn’t know if she could find the strength to go on. Better that she simply vanish into the past, than to face this kind of a future.
Then, as K’tanya huddled in her room avoiding everyone and everything, she saw something on an infomercial that could save not only her own life, but also the lives of all the people that were counting on her. Prescription strength benzoyl peroxide. It would make her problem vanish as though it had never even existed.
Once again, life could go on.
