K’tanya shaded her eyes as she glanced up into the afternoon sky. The sun, which had already been up for hours, hardly seemed to have moved despite the hour. It was almost as if time itself had stood still, at least for the moment.

Perhaps that was her problem, she thought as she settled back into her chair. Instead of moving forward with her life, she was simply standing still, wishing for something she could never truly find. Maybe she should just let it all go, and finally fade away.

“I think maybe it’s time for me to go home.”

"You know, home? The place you go where they have to take you back?"

"It was a question of where. Heaven? Hell? Where are you from that you need to go back to it so badly?"

"Heaven, I suppose. Hell is a bit too bit too hot this time of year. And I didn't say I needed to go back. I just said it was time."

"Time, to you, doesn't exist. So, your new found epiphany about going home comes as a bit of a shock, not to mention a little out of left field."

"There's not a lot of reason for me to stay on this plane, Adam. I'm not needed here."

"What if I asked you to stay?"

"Why?"

"Because you're needed."

She smiles a bit, but it's a rather sad smile. "By who?"

"Me."

She just looks at him for a long moment. "Adam, you don't need me. In fact, I can't think of anyone that you really need."

"Okay, but I still want you to stay. I'll be awfully lonely without you."

"Well of course you would be, but it's not the same as being needed." She sighs softly. "I'm lost. I don't...know what to do anymore."

"Then, the only thing to do is to go home."

She nods slowly, because it's the truth. She doesn't belong here anymore. Maybe she never did.

"I should pack. Oh, and I'll need to let Archimedes know. He gets cranky when I don't tell him my plans."

"Well, it looks like it's just me again. I wonder where I'll go and what I'll do now. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I always do."

She walks over to him and lightly brushes her fingers along his cheek. "It's part of your charm."

He grins softly, "Only part?"

She laughs softly. "Of course, silly. You're just oozing with charm when you want to be."

"That sounds dangerous."

"Oh, it's definitely dangerous, especially for the people closest to you."

"I'll have to be more careful, then. Or, not." He says with a devious grin.

She puts her hands on her hips and narrows her eyes slightly as she looks at him. "Now you're playing dirty, Methos."

"You bet I am. Do you see what you're going to miss out on?"

"Maybe, but the real question is do you realize what you've gotten yourself into if I stay."

"I've been with you for a while and I haven't ran for the hills yet. I think I can handle it."

"Yes, but it's been a long time since you were the sole focus of my attention."

"Yes, you do usually run off at the first opportunity you can get."

She sniffs a bit. "Well it's not like you're the easiest person to get close to, Methos."

"You only think that because of that one incident."

Which, blowing up Pompeii wasn't that small of an incident.

"That was just the culmination, and you know it."

"Uh huh."

She laughs softly, then gets up on her toes and lightly kisses his cheek. "Fine. I'll stay for a little while longer."

"What convinced you?" He asks because it wasn't admitting that he needed her or anything else. It was their bickering that made her stay.

"Isn't it obvious? You need a woman around who knows how to deal with you."

"And you would be the...woman...to do that?"

"Who else?"

[iris-angel.livejournal.com]

"I can't think of anyone else."

[idealized-sue.livejournal.com]

"Precisely."

She slips an arm through his and leans against him a bit. "Come on. Let's get something to eat. I'm starving."

"That sounds like a plan."

Together, they go off to do just that.
